Writing & Publishing Resources
As we all go on our own writing journeys - we do not have to walk it alone! I am dropping this post to have a continual thread for all forum users. Please add your favorite writing resources! There are many books, YouTube channels, blog posts, and personal experiences for us to share with one another.
Here are a couple I have used recently: 1) " Save the Cat Writes a Novel " by Jessica Brody. This is a novel take on the original " Save the Cat " screenplay book. 2) I am adding 2 files to this post. They are outlines I wrote from reading "Save the Cat Writes a Novel." The outlines summarize the material and then has an interactive section for you to write about your main character. The book focuses on the main character of people's stories, but I think the outline can be used for any character you want to work on to find their story arc beats. 3) YouTube Channel: Hello Future Me . I've seen a few of his videos on world building, magic systems, and how to write heroes/villains. Good for fantasy and genre writing. 4) Fantasy Name Generator website. I find this super helpful when I'm stuck on a character's name. There are so many topics to choose from. This site can be specific to already existing fandoms like "Lord of the Rings" to made up ones. It can help with names for planets, countries, kingdoms, religions, factions of people, etc. The list goes on and on! Fun site to wander around in. I'll add more resources or personal experience as I think of them. Happy writing folks!
