An author friend of mine recommended this book - I've started reading it and it is FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC! In the introduction, the author talks about how The Heroine's Journey is a separate narrative structure from the Hero's Journey that's not new - it's always been around, just not talked about nearly as much.
